how to make windows faster part 2

On this part we will know few more options about how we can make our windows faster. On our previous part we learn about four options. Those were some regular stuff a windows user needs to know. But on this part we will learn about few tips that will be set once after windows operating system is installed.

  1. We all know that windows operating system search the whole file system and index the files for searching. But we need to know this takes a lot of processing power from the processor and at the same it time takes memory to make it work. If we can disable this indexing than we can make our windows operating system a bit faster. Also it helps to search particular file or folder faster. How to do it! First we need to open the services window. We can find it by simply searching on control panel or we can find it by writing services.msc on run program. Either way we will get to services window. Once the window pops up then we need to find a service named “windows search”. We will find that service is running and we need to double click on that service and another window will pop up. Now there we will see that a button named STOP. Click on stop button. Now click OK at the bottom of the window. Now it is a good practice to reboot the system after a system change. So let’s reboot the system.
  2. Our next tip is disabling startup programs. Usually there are few programs or software that runs at the beginning of the boot up. So these programs take a lot of processing power from the processor and takes space from memory. So if we stop these programs then the boot up process and windows will be faster. For doing this we need to open task manager. We can open task manager from control panel or we can simply press Ctrl+shift+Esc at the same time. Once we can open task manager then we will see that on top there are few tabs. From there we have to select startup. Under that tab we will find a few programs. We need to find programs that are not necessary to run at startup. Select an unnecessary program; right click on that program and from the menu we need to click on disable. Do the same with other unnecessary programs.
  3. We all know that memory is one of the most important part of a machine. This is the first check point to start a program. So if we have low memory or a busy memory then we need some virtual memory to run a program. For that we need to configure some virtual memory space from any of the drive from hard disk. To do this, we need to go to Desktop and right click on the Computer icon. We will get a menu; from there we need to click on properties. A new window will come up, on left side there will be few options will be available. From there we need to click on “advance system settings”. Another window will pop up. We will find few tabs on top, select advance from there. Under that tab we will find three options. From there we have to notice the first option which is “performance”. Under that section there is a settings button. Once we click on that button we will find another window pop up. There we will find three tabs again from there we have to select “advance”. Now on that window we will find a section which is virtual memory. In that section we will see a button named change. Click on that button and another window will pop up. Now on that window will see a check box on top which is named “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”, uncheck that box. Then the below drive names will be active and select the drive which have most free space. Below that we will find two text boxes. On the first box put the similar space of RAM and on the second box put double space of RAM. Now click OK. Again Click OK. Now we will be back to the system properties window and we have to click OK again. Now we will be represented if we want to reboot the system right now or later. We should reboot the system. Then we will get the windows working a little faster than before.
  4. It is a common practice that rebooting the system for free up the memory. Actually shutting down a system for a few minutes is a good practice for better performance. So we should try to reboot the system after few hours of use every day.
